Kingdom of Vatsa (Ayodhya), Shivadatta/Jeevadatta?, Cast Copper, (c.150-100 BC), 1.12g, 12.46x14.14mm, Obv: Lion seated facing left, 'Ujjain' symbol and an uncertain symbol in its front, Brahmi legend Shi/Jeevadatasa above, Rev: traces of an elephant walking to left towards a triangle-headed standard. Unlisted in PAIC. Very Fine. Very Rare. Note: The first letter of the legend is unclear, it could be a 'Shi' or a 'Jee'. If the latter, the coin would be attributed to a hitherto unknown king of Ayodhya. On the other hand, 'Shivadatta' is already a known ruler in the Ayodhya series. About Very Fine, Rare. |
