Nawabs of Savanoor, Silver Rupee, 11.44g, Issued under the authority of Abdul Rauf Diler Khan (1686-1720 AD), Azamnagar (Belgaum) Mint, INO Farrukhsiyar with "Badshah Bahr-o-Barr" Couplet, (frozen) 6 RY, has two curious features on reverse: the word ‘Sanah’, between the letters ‘Lu’ and ‘S’ of the word ‘Julus’, and (the word ‘Nagar’ inscribed twice, in middle as well as bottom lines unseen). The reason behind this is not yet known, but it is possible that the coins are struck at a mint other than ‘Azamnagar, with a pseudo-mint name. Very Fine, Very Rare. |
