Sikh Empire Silver Rupee, 11.00g, Buriya Chiefs, INO Shah Alam II, Najibabad (Pseudo), AH XX21/47 RY, these issues are said to be minted in Jagadhri (Haryana). These issues are said to have been minted in Jagadhri (Haryana). “Old Jagadree” rupee, struck by Rani Sookum, whose identity has so far has not been identified. Jagadhri owes its importance to the Sikh chief Rai Singh of Buriya. The town had been entirely destroyed by Nadir Shah (1736-1747), but was rebuilt by Rai Singh in 1783. It lapsed to the British Government in 1829. KM Unlisted. Very Fine, Scarce. |
