| Indo Portuguese, Silver Xerafim, 10.37g, D. Pedro Principe Regente (1667-1683 AD), 1682, Goa issue, Obv: Mint letters G and A on either side of Shield (Escudo) , Rev: Cross of the order of Christ (Cruz da Ordem de Christo ) date digits 1682 within offsets of the cross, Gomes (page 557) 7.09. Also visible is a sign of date overstruck in it's third digit, the top of the digit '5' is seen protruding to right of '8' implying the overstrike on an earlier Xerafim of the 1850s which could be either dated between 1650-52 attributed to D.Joao IV A.Gomes (page 555) no 26.01-26.03 or dated 1659 attributed to D Alfonso VI, A.Gomes (page 556) 5.01 which is listed as RARE. Interesting and varied Shroff marks on obverse and reverse. Very Fine, Rare. |
