| Sikh Empire, Silver Rupee, 11.14g, Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Sri Amritsar Mint, Nanak Shahi Couplet, VS 1858 (1801 AD) First issued coronation coin as Maharaja with highly decorative flan & dotted leaf, no test mark. NOTE : Maharaja Ranjit Singh's coronation was held on 12.04.1801AD/01 Baisakh 1858VS at Sri Akal Takht Sahib in Golden Temple, Sri Amritsar, Ranjit Singh proclaimed himself as "Maharaja of Punjab" and agreed for a formal ceremony, which was carried out by Baba sahib singh bedi ji a descendant of Guru Nanak Dev ji & various other chiefs on the day of his coronation & he got the title Sarkar-I-Wala, prayers were performed across Mosques, Temples and Gurudwaras in his territories for his long life, he ordered new coins to be issued in the name of Guru Nanak called the Nanakshahi coin, the above coin is related to his Coronation celebrations.
