Vijayanagara kingdom, Achyutaraya, 1529-42 AD, Gold Pratapa (Half Varaha), 1.69g, 8.51x8.90 mm, Obv: Mythical twin headed bird Gandabherunda to left and holding four elephants, two in its beaks and two in its claws, Rev: Nagari legend in three lines reading “ShriPra/(Ta)PaChyuTa/RaYa”. Ref: Studies in Vijayanagar Coins K Ganesh #141 pg 80. Achyutaraya was the younger brother of Krishnadeva Raya and succeeded him in in 1529. However in 1540, Aliya Rama Raya imprisoned Achyuta Raya in a coup and became very powerful. Extremely Fine+, Rare. Estimated Price
