Audumbara, Bhagvata Mahadeva, Silver Drachm, 2.34g, 16.25x16.78, Obv: Humped bull to right with a dotted circle, lotus flower under head to right above swastika symbol and srivatsa above bull, Triratna at the back, wavy line below Kharoshthi legend ‘Bhagavata Mahadevasa' from 4 to 7 o' clock and 'rajaraja' in the exergue, Rev: Elephant standing on platform facing to right, front of trident-battleaxe (all blured), swastika symbol on its back, wavy line below, around Brahmi legend ‘..vasa' visible at 3-4 o'clock position and 'rajaraja’ in exergue is visible.Very Fine+, Extremely Rare.
Prof. Devendra Handa attributed above coins in Mahadeva type (bull & elephant) in his book ‘Tribal Coins of Ancient India’. This coin is a new variety becouse of its symbology. The reverse die seems to have shifted slightly while striking, so the elephant and part of legend are blurred. Cunningham and Allan was attributed to Audumbaras tribe.
