Assam, Octagonal Gold Mohur, 11.22g, Rajesvara Simha (Siu-rem-pha) (1751-1769), Sk. 1690, Assamese legends in four lines, Obv: Sri Sri Hara/ Gauri Charana Ka/mala Makaranda/ Madhukarasya, Rev: Sri Sri Svarga/Deva Sri Rajesva/ra Simha Nrpasya/ Sake 1690, lion with tail down at bottom running left. Reverse die perfectly struck at 6 o'clock. (A.Mitra. 194, RB. O 13.1). Extremely Fine, Extremely Rare.
Rajesvara Simha made some one-off innovations to the coinage during his reign. In this case he issued a series of coins in Nagari & Persian script instead of the usual Assamese script in gold and silver. All of these are very rare,except the Assamese rupee, which is scarce.
