Assam, Octagonal Silver Rupee, 11.28g, Siva Simha (1714-1744), with no queen's name, Sk. 1637, Assamese legends in four lines on each side, Obv: Sri Sri Hara/ Gauri Pada/mbuja Madhuka/rasya, Rev: Sri Srima/t Svarga Deva Si/va Simha Nrpasya/ Sake 1637, lion with tail down at bottom running to right, Reverse die perfectly struck at 6 o'clock. (A.Mitra. 56A Unlisted, RB. G4.1). Very Fine+, Scarce.
The Rupees from the first few years of the reign are all scarce. The two Rupees dated Sk 1637 differ slightly in the layout of the word SrImat in the top line of the reverse: G4.1 has the last letter of the word on the second line is offered here, while the other Rupees have it all engraved on the first line.
