Vijayanagara kingdom, Achyutaraya, 1529-42 AD, Gold Varaha, 3.39g, 9.46x9.16 mm, Obv: Mythical twin headed bird Gandabherunda holding four elephants, two in its beaks and two in its claws, Rev: Nagari legend in three lines reading “ShriPra/(Ta)PaChyuTa/RaYa”. Ref: Studies in Vijayanagar Coins K Ganesh #139 pg 80. Achyutaraya was the younger brother of Krishnadeva Raya and succeeded him in in 1529. However in 1540, Aliya Rama Raya imprisoned Achyuta Raya in a coup and became the de-facto ruler. About Very Fine, Scarce.
