When Ratna Manikya was in Gaur (Place in Bengal), he was influenced by Bengal Sultan’s coin and he introduced similar types of coins in Tripura Kingdom. Nasir-ud-din Mahmud Shah III introduced lion types coins in Bengal. Similarly, Ratna Manikya also minted similar types of coins. But all aspects of the design chosen have hindu significance as lion is the “vahana” or vehicle of the goddess Durga.
