Tripura, Silver Tanka, 10.19g, Yaso Manikya with Queen Gauri Lakshmi Mahadevi (SE 1522-1540 / 1600-1618 AD), Second Reign, Obv: Krishna standing on a lion facing left, playing flute, (Two Gopis) one gopi standing on either side, within circle with outer border of beaded annulets. Dated below, Saka 1522. Rev: Sri Sri Yuta Ya/so Manikya Deva/ Sri Gauri La/kshmi Maha Devyah, in square with ornamented border. R&B 197. Toned About Extremely Fine, Very Rare.
Yaso Manikya who was also Known as Yashodhara Manikya. He was crowned twice. After Isvara Manikya, Yaso Manikya ascend the throne again. To introduce the queen name in coins was a tradition of Tripura kingdom. In his second reign this is one of the remarkable coin where two queen names were introduced. It is observed from his series of issued coins that his first wife was Laxmi and Gauri was his second queen. It shows equal dignity in Tripura Kingdom. In the obverse side Lord Krishna and Goopi are there, it indicates Yaso Manikya was an adorer of “Bhagaban Sri Krishna”.
