Rev: Sri Hara Gauri Pa/da Padma Madhup/ Sri Sri Yuta Chattra/Manikya Devyau, within square with ornaments outside. R&B 215. Toned Extremely Fine, Extremely Rare.
Chatra Manikya was the step-brother of Govinda Manikya, who, in 1661 AD, apparently usurped the throne with the help of the Nawab of Murshidabad. Queen name is not mentioned and place of the Shiva Lingam, so prominent on the coins of his predecessor, is a Shivaite invocation, Sri Hara Gauri Padma Madhup, “drinking of the nectar of the lotus at the foot of Hara Gauri (Shiva and Parvati)”.
