Maharaja Ramganga Manikya along with his Queen's name Chandratara Mahadevya, a Bengali woman from a noble family of Sylhet. The coin was issued during the first term of Ramganga Manikya. Maharaj Krishna Kishor Manikya who established modern Agartala was born to Ramganga Manikya. The first period of rule of Ramganga Manikya was from 1804-1809 CE. But Durga Mani claimed the throne from the day of coronation of Ramganga. Finally, Durgamani won the case in Sadar Dewani Adalat on 24th March 1809 and became Durga Manikya in April 1809. Ramganga and his retinue took shelter in the house of his trusted officer Bakshi Ramhari Ghosh Biswas in Sylhet. Ramganga asked Ramhari to buy him a zamindari, instead Ramhari freely offered his zamindari to him. Later on Ramganga took Ramhari's sister as his wife. Rani Chandratara devi died before Ramganga Manikya. They had only one son Krishna Kishor. Ramganga ordered the compilation of fourth "Lahara" of Rajmala. During his reign Sylhet was separated from Tripura by the British which caused a lot of trouble to Ramganga Manikya.
