Khandesh Sultanate, Copper Double Falus, 33.60g, Bahadur Shah, Obv: al-Sultan Bahadur Shah bin Adil Shah, Rev: al-Wathiq billah al-Mannan Abu al-Fateh Nasir al-Dunya wa al-Din”, G&G Unlisted. Unique so far. About Very Fine for type, Extremely rare.
The above is the heaviest coin of the Sultans of Khandeshwhich has come to be noticed. As mentioned in G&G the copper coinage of Bahadur Shah appears to have been set to a 17g standard and so far half and quarter / third fractions of this basic copper denomination were known. This is evidently a double denomination in the same metrological series. Bahadur Shah was the last Sultan of Khandesh and gave a tough fight to Akbar from his fortress stronghold of Asirgarh. However, his effort fell short of the Mughal power and he surrendered to Akbar in 1601.
