Historical studies in Mughal Mint Towns and other essays by Hodivala, ed. Sanjay Garg on page 114-11, as mentioned that 'Jan' is an alternative form of month 'Mihr' which finds mention in The Akbarnama and is recognized by Persian lexicographers, Further he adduces evidence that 'MihrJan' & MihrGan' are both alternative nammes for the '7th month of the Solar year'. He also notes another coin, where the month is Aban, which succeeds Mihr.
