Arcot Nawabs, Gold Pagoda, 3.42g, 'Three-Swami' type with letter 'Alif' engraved on granular background on reverse, Unlisted in major publications, Very Fine+, Very Rare.
Other same coins with letter 'Ain' are well-known. 'Alif' here might refer to Nawab Anwaruddin Khan of Arcot (1744-1749 AD), who was killed during battle of Ambur, fighting with the French on 3rd August 1749 AD.
