Lingen M&J J.07.1.05,. About Very Fine, Rare.
The coin listed by J.Lingen is of a rather poor quality and also shows the flattening towards the edges like the coin offered above. However, he reports it to be of a 11.30g. The couplet on the coin reads, that the coin was struck “during the fortunate and contiguous reign of the most illustrious Queen of England, Victoria”. The Regnal Year on obverse refers to the reign of Takhat Singh and corresponds to 1859, the year in which the Queen issued her Proclamation to stop hostilities after the Revolt of 1857-58, an occasion which was celebrated by many Maharajas who were loyal to the British, Takhat Singh of Jodhpur being no exception.
