Silver
Kingdom of Greco-Baktrian, Bactria, Eucratides II, 145 - 140 BCE, Silver, Tetradrachm, 16.78 gm, 31.10x32.40mm, Obv: Diademed bust of king facing right, bead & reel border around, Rev: Nude Apollo standing facing, holding arrow in right hand, bow in left, monogram at lower left. Greek legend: BASI?EOS / EYKPATI?OY, (Slightly double struck due to shifting of the die during the striking process of this particular specimen which can evidently be observed on the Reverse of this specimen.). with natural toning & patina, Rare especially for this ruler as per grade. About Extremely Fine, Rare.
Note: P.S: Eucratides II (also spelled Eukratides) may have been another son of Eucratides I, although we have no direct evidence of this. He was one of three kings (Plato & Heliocles I being the others) who seemed to succeed Eucratides I in quick succession in Bactria, north of the Hindu Kush mountains. Heliocles appears to have been the last of the three, since his coinage was imitated extensively by the Scythian nomads who undoubtedly overthrew the Greeks in Bactria. (Part of Courtesy Credit: CoinIndia & Wiki. indication that he now ruled in his own right.)
