Chandellas, Jejakabhukti (Bundelkhand), Paramardi Varman, 1165/7 - 1202/3 CE, 4-1/2 Masha / Masaka (Dinar/Unit), Gold, 4.18 gm, 19.18x19.20mm, (one of the higher weight specimens, usually they're all below 4 grams & slightly smaller flan, this one's with a wide flan, heavy weight specimen for this ruler), Obv: Four-armed Goddess Lakshmi seated facing, cross-legged, Rev: Devanagari legend in three lines: ShriMaT-Pa /RaMaRDDi / AiJaVa [AiHaVa?] seen in-full on-flan. Mitchiner #408. Extremely Fine+, uncleaned, toned & in its natural state of preservation. Rare as per type that's with three lines instead of the usual two for this ruler.
Note: This is a "Plate specimen" from the world renowned catalogue - Lakshmi Bearer of Riches - 4.6.D-141+1c. P.S: Paramardi was one of the last kings of the Chandellas. He was defeated by both Prithviraja Chauhan & his Muslim nemesis Muhammad bin Sam. The Chandellas never recovered from these twin defeats & Paramardi's subsequent death. All of Paramardi's coins are rare to extremely rare, especially the ones with the three lines instead of the usual two lines types. Thus making this specimen a true exception & highly collectable.
