Note: Allahabad was ceded to the East India Company on 21st February 1798/1801 AD (AH1216), after which the mint altered the design by replacing the obverse star with a ball. The mint was permanently closed in 1803. Mint records state production of the shumshari rupee from May 1802 to April 1803. The term shumshary derived from the Persian word shamshir, which means "sword", first added to the obverse design in AH1210 by the Mughals.
