Durrani, Silver 2 Rupees (Double Rupee), 23.28g, Mahmud Shah (1st reign AH 1216-1218 /1801-1803 AD), Bahawalpur Mint, AH 1217/1 RY, Hand-engraved oblique milled edge, "Bataufiq Elah" Couplet, Obv: Sikka zad ba zar bataufiq elah, khushru gitistan Mahmud Shah, Rev: zarb Bahawalpur" complete mint name at the bottom & "Sana 1 julus with memanat manus" at the top in two lines. beautiful floral motifs on both the sides, superb strike, KM 244, Extremely Fine, Very Rare.
Note: In 1803, Mahmud Shah, one of the sons of Timur Shah Durrani, was ousted by his brother Shah Shuja al-Mulk. Shuja ruled as the Emir of Afghanistan for six years before Mahmud Shah overthrew him.
