According to the journals of the Asiatic Company the Danish rupees were mainly used as trading coins in Bengal. the Bengal ledgers were drawn up in Arcot rupees until 1777 as they were the most common type of coin, but was from that year they converted into Courant Rupees. A few whole and half rupees minted at Arcot are known with trident and a flowerbud with dot as mintmarks, they are thought to have been minted for a hitherto unknown trading company, further refer to Mr. Jan Lingen's Article on Danish Asiatic Company Rupees.
