Medieval Gujarat, unattributed Copper, (700-800 AD), 0.73g, 10.69x10.18 mm, Obv: Figure of a 'Gandharva' (celestial human being) flying to right. Rev: Trident in the center, Kutila legend engraved retrograde reading Shri Vishala(raja?)... around. From the legend it is evident that the coin was issued by a king named 'Vishalaraja' or 'Visalaraja'. It is not certain to which dynasty he belonged, but at this time many small Rajput dynasties rose to prominence in Gujarat. Very Fine, Rare. |
