Gujarat Region, Medieval Period, Unattributed Copper Coin [800-900 ?AD), 0.88g, 9.92x9.80 mm, Obv: Fish in center dotted border, Rev: Trident in the center, Kutila legend engraved retrograde reading Shri Vishala(raja?)... around. From the legend it is evident that the coin was issued by a king named 'Vishalaraja' or 'Visalaraja'. It is not certain to which dynasty he belonged, but at this time many small Rajput dynasties rose to prominence in Gujarat. Very Fine, Rare. |
