Lot No : 42
Gujarat/Malwa Region, 5.42g Copper head-ornament or Mukuta for a small icon, c. 4th-5th century AD - the facet shows a Kinnara, or a 'bird-man' motif executed in bas-relfief, with other floral ornamentation surrounding it. Mukutas like this served a votive function. Kinnaras are mythical beings who are often depicted in sculpture venerating a deity from their celestial abode.
