Rashtrakuta, Silver Dramma, 8-10 Cen AD, 0.36g, 10.80x10.54mm, probably Unique, Unknown Ruler, Obv: Profile bust of king to right within a dotted border. The artistic profile execution shows an elaborate hair style and ear ring. Perhaps one of the most aesthetically executed Rashtrakuta portraits. Rev: Inscription Shri PraYaSha/VaLoKa in two lines in late Brahmi script. A crescent above with inscription Shri PraYaSha/VaLoKa is an hitherto unknown epithet below. It is not encountered on any of the copper plates as well. However, the ”LoKa” ending epithet, coin typology and metrology clearly indicate a Rashtrakuta issue. Unlisted. Very Fine, Very Rare, |
