Medieval Gujarat, Unattributed, Copper, 1.16g, 9-9mm. (700-800 AD), Obv: Boar running to right, Rev: Trident in the center, Kutila legend engraved retrograde reading Shri Vishala(raja?)... around. From the legend it is evident that the coin was issued by a king named 'Vishalaraja' or 'Visalaraja'. It is not certain to which dynasty he belonged, but at this time many small Rajput dynasties rose to prominence in Gujarat. Very Fine, Rare. |
