Rashtrakuta, (8-10 Cen AD), Copper, 0.42g, 11.8 x12.56 mm, probably Unique, Unknown Ruler, Obv: Profile bust of king to right within a dotted border, The artistic profile execution shows an elaborate hair style and ear ring, Perhaps one of the most aesthetically executed Rashtrakuta portraits, Rev: Inscription Shri PraYaSha/VaLoKa in two lines in late Brahmi script, A crescent above with inscription Shri PraYaSha/VaLoKa is an hitherto, unknown epithet below, the ”LoKa” ending epithet, coin typology and metrology clearly indicate a Rashtrakuta issue. Unlisted. Very Fine, Very Rare. |
