Kushan, Huvishka, Gold ¼ Dinar, 1.95g, 13.14x13.33mm, (2 Cen AD), Obv: Diademed and crowned half length bust above the clouds, holding mace-sceptre in one hand and an ankush in another hand, Bactrian legend around "þAONANOþ.........?þKI KOþANO" (King of Kings Huvishka Kushan), Rev: Radiate, nimbate Sun deity "Mitra" standing facing left, extending hand in benediction and holding filleted scepter, Bactrian legend at right "MEYPO" (Meuro), tamgha at left field. Choice Very Fine. Exceedingly rare variety with the misspelled name "MEYPO" instead of the usual "MIIPO". Ref: Gobl # 337/Jongward & Cribb # 732. About Extremely Fine, Very Rare. |
