Sangam Age, Pandyas, Copper, 6.88g, 20.72x19.98mm, Obv: A clear and deep portrait of king facing to right within a dotted circle, Rev: Traces of a Bull facing to left, Bull is a known motif of Sangam age Pandyas. On this coin, the portrait seems to be overstruck deeply on a bull type coin. A very interesting and historically significant coin of the Sangam age. One of the earliest portrait coin series of India. Fine+, Extremely Rare. |
