Rashtrakuta, Copper, 0.65g, 13 x 12 mm, (8-10 Cen AD) probably Unique, Unknown Ruler, Obv: Profile bust of king to right within a dotted border, The artistic profile execution shows an elaborate hair style and ear ring, Perhaps one of the most aesthetically executed Rashtrakuta portraits, Rev: Inscription Shri 'PraYaSha/VaLoKa' in two lines in late Brahmi script, A crescent above with inscription 'Shri PraYaSha/VaLoKa' is an hitherto, unknown epithet below, the 'LoKa' ending epithet, coin typology and metrology clearly indicate a Rashtrakuta issue. Unlisted. Very Fine, Very Rare. |
