Sikh Empire, Silver Rupee, 11.02g, Mankhera Mint, Gobind Shahi Couplet, VS 1879. Mankera is situated about 130 km north of Multan. early 19th century it was ruled by a semi-independent ruler under the Nawab of Dera Ismail Khan. In 1821 AD, Ranjit Singh sent an army against Mankera and Dera Ismail Khan as a result of which Mankera with its strong fort was annexed to his kingdom. This rupee would have been struck shortly after the annexation. Only two years are known for this type VS 1879 and 1880. Herrli 33.02.04. About Very Fine, Very Rare. Estimate
