Guptas, Samudragupta (350-375 AD), Gold Dinar, 7.39gm, Lyrist Type, Obv: King nimbate to left, seated cross legged on high backed couch, wearing close feeting pear bordered cap, ear rings, necklace, armlets and waist cloth or dhoti, playing lyre or lute which he is carrying on his lap, his left hand keeping the instrument in position and right hand manipulating strings of the instrument. Right below the couch is a foot stool or pedestal on which is inscribed the and anspicious syllable 'Si' for Siddham, king left leg is hanging down avoiding the foot stool, while the right leg if folded on the couch and the toe of his right foot is touching the foot stool and circular legend in Brahmi, 'Maharajadhiraja Sri Samudraguptah', Rev: Goddess Lakshmi, nimbate seated to left on a wicker stool, her legs hanging down in fornt, ear rings, necklace, bangles and holding noose in her right hand, cornucopiae in left hand, resting againest her left shoulder, border of dots with Brahmi legend on right field, 'Samudraguptah'.
