AUC43 Lot No : 433

Akbar, Silver Rupee, 11.30g, Shergarh (new mint location) Mint, AH 968, Kalima type. The mint is written at top side of Rev i.e. above emperor’s name. However this Shergarh should be different location than the regular Shergarh mint of Akbar because so far known Shergarh mint Rupees have AH date below kalima & characteristic symbol above Jalal in emperors name. However both the features are different in this coin with AH date above Jim of emperor’s name and star below Noon of emperors name. Some scholars attributed this enigmatic coin to Kumbalgarh mint in Rajasthan however its debatable. Nonetheless Very Fine, Very Rare. Estimate
Rs. 20,000-22,000
