Muhammad Shah, Silver Rupee, 11.43g, Ujjain (without epithet Dar alFateh) Mint, AH 114x/11 RY. The epithet Dar al-Fateh was given to Ujjain mint during Aurangzeb’s reign and all other subsequent rulers used the mint epithet while minting the coins from this mint. Offered coin is very interesting coin of Muhammad Shah Ujjain without epithet Dar al-Fateh. This peculiar phenomenon of Ujjain without Dar al-Fateh is known in Muhammad Shah Ujjain with RY 11 only and known from handful of pieces. We know from RY 13 of Muhammad Shah Ujjain mint coins are attributed to Maratha. Now this early interesting coin can be (?) attributed to earliest Maratha activity in the region.
