Aurangzeb, Copper Half Paisa, 6.53gm, Machhlipatan Mint, AH 1111, Obv: Falus Alamgir, Rev: Zarb Bandar Machhlipatan with Li as divider line and AH 1111, Machhlipatan mint was very prolific in minting anonymous copper coins (Paisa) from the reign of Aurangzeb to Shah Alam II, all the coins of this mint always bears Julus Mubarak Sanah on obverse with AH date and Zarb Machhlipatan Bandar on reverse, they have been identified and assigned to Mughal rulers based on AH date. However this is the first coin of Machhlipatan mint which is not anonymous and clearly reads Falus Alamgir, never reported so far in any known references and most probably unique. |
