| Feudatory of Satavahanas, Maharathis, Lead Unit, 4.01gm, Chittaldurg Region (Karnataka), Obv: Elephant walking to left, Brahmi legend on its back ‘Maharathisa Maha..’, Rev: Tree on six arched hills below wavy line. Satavahana inscriptions found at Nasik and Karle caves there mention name of Maharathi dynasty. The dynasty issued inscribed and uninscribed coins both are in lead from Andhra, Karnataka and Vidarbha area. Till date found coin of six Maharathi rulers Sadakana Putasa, Maharathisa Mahahathisa, Sivala, Siva Mahahathiisa, Khada Pori Hathisa and Siva Khadasa. R. Reddy & P.S. Reddy published similar type but the ruler Hatisa. Unlisted. Very Fine+, Very Rare. |
