Satavahanas, Satakarni I with Queen Naganika, Copper Unit, 10.29gm, Overstruck on Junnar Lioness, Obv: Brahmi legend Nagmanika in centre within square, on right top Siri Sa ta and traces of main symbol, Rev: Four orb ujjaini symbol dot in each orb, tail of lioness and Brahmi legend 'Satakanisa'. Naganika was the Queen of Satakarni and is known through their inscriptions at Junnar. It is one of the earliest indigenous examples where one can find joint issue of the King and the Queen. Very Fine+, Very Rare. |
