William IV, Gold Two Mohurs, 23.23gm, 1835, Calcutta Mint, 'R.S.' incused, Re-strike Proof, Obv: Bust of William IIII to Right, English legends William IIII King after the date 1835, Dot after the date 1835, Initials 'R.S' incused on the truncation, The initials stands for the Mint Master Robert Saunders, of the Calcutta Mint from January 1826 to January 1836. Rev: Lion facing to the Left in front of Palm tree with English legends EAST INDIA COMPANY. The value in English and persian legends (Do Ashrafi or which means Two Mohurs). Minting of "Double Mohurs" began before the end of 1835 and British Government issued these Mohurs in to circulation from 1st January 1836. This Mohur is the most popular Rarity of the series.
