This coin was previously known from a single example publisbed as one and only of this type known, allowing for a better identification of the inscriptions on both side The legends shows thet the die engraver must have inscribed in extremely corrupt legend die, yet recognizable prakrit. The obverse shows a facing elephant with a semicircular inscription in very crude Bramhi Svami Rudrasensya Considering the crude nature of both the obverse and the "reversed" legends, the word probably carried no meaning and was added simply for the sake of symmetry and been disciphred unpublished in .A.M. Fishman. So the legend was reported to be in an unidentifiable script" the legend is now known to be in very corrupt brahmi the legend is differently engraved on the different coin, but it is always an identifiable corruption of Rajno ksatrapasa Svami Rudrasenasya One of the forms is swown on the line drawings below, though it is not the only spelling on these coins, & other spellings are similarly corrupt and crude, which were said tobe majorly found at the minting spot area, only small number of known coins have either come from stray finds in gujarat but their actual find spots are not known. Unpublished in a A.M. Fishman. Very Fine, Very Rare. |
