Shah Jahan I, Nasir-ud-Din, Muhammad with pre-accession name ‘Khurram’, (AH 1037-1068, 1628-1658 AD), Silver Rupee, 10.91g, Lahore Mint, AH (103)7 / RY (1) Ahd, Obv: Persian inscription within circular border, La ila ila Allah, Muhammad Rasul Allah, sanah julus (10)37, zarb Lahore. Rev: Abul Muzaffar nasir ud-Din Muhammad Shah Jahan Khurram badshah ghazi. (Shah Jahan’s birth name was Shah ab-ud-din Muhammad Khurram. At the time of Jahangir’s death in AH 1037, Khurram was at Lahore and was declared the next Emperor. Coins were struck in gold and silver, and the Khutba read. The word Khurram appears only in the year AH 1037 on coins struck at Lahore and Kabul. This is the third specimen seen in the past decade in auction, in comparison to his rival Dawar Bakhsh’s five specimens, struck in the same year at Lahore. KM 197.1. Fine, Extremely Rare. Estimate
